Every year the Veterinary Health Care Team of Arizona awards one hospital the honor of being the Veterinary Health Care Team of the Year and this year that award went to University Animal Hospital!
Rawkus is a sweet, adorable 10 year old pit bull who has lived here in the valley all his life. This spring during his annual examination, we were surprised to learn that he was infected with heartworms. Thanks to his toughness, a dedicated family, and the UVH team, he has survived this deadly disease. The treatment for heartworm disease involves three stages and along the way there is the potential for life threatening consequences as the worms die in the heart and lungs. Fortunately heartworm disease is easily preventable with a safe monthly medication.
Taught by the veterinarians at University Animal Hospital, the class covers areas such as first aid for pets, injuries, poisoning, household and environmental hazards and CPR.
We understand that sometimes it is difficult to bring your pet in to the hospital for care. This may be especially true for our felines and some older pets who would really rather stay home and not take that car ride. To make this easier for our patients and their pet parents, we are offering house call visits two days a week!
