University Animal Hospital is dedicated to animal welfare. This not only means practicing the best possible medicine, but also teaching others about pet care. As part of our community outreach program, we offer classes for children, teens and adults. These classes are co-sponsored by Tempe Parks and Recreation and are offered 4 times a year. Please call Univeristy Animal Hospital at 480-968-9275 and ask to speak to Eva Vichules.

This is a fun class for kids whether or not they have a dog or are thinking about getting one. Parents are welcome. For ages 1st grade and up.
Kritters and Little Kids: A one day class about pets. Included will be a hands on experience with animals, fun take home handouts, a simple art project, a story and music and a tour of the animal hospital and kennels. Parents are welcome. For ages 4-5 years.

There will be a question and answer segment as well as a tour of the hospital and boarding kennels. A power point presentation and informative booklet are also included. For ages 15 years to adult.
Dog Grooming 101: In this class you will learn how to keep your dog looking great in between professional grooming sessions. Taught by an experienced, professional groomer; it will cover proper bathing, brushing, deshedding techniques, nail trimming, skin care for wrinkled breeds and the best grooming tools and products to buy. For ages 15 years to adult.
The Purrfect Cat: If you want a handsome/beautiful feline this is the class for you. Taught by a professional, experienced groomer, you will receive instruction using a demonstration cat in brushing, nail trimming, washing, ear cleaning and general inspection of your cat. For ages 15 to adult.
We also offer educational tours for children of all ages and their families, scouts, school and neighborhood groups. The tours consist of an educational session at which time age appropriate materials will be distributed in addition to discussion and a video. Safety around animals is stressed. Children will then have a tour of the facility including the grooming salon, surgery, pharmacy, laboratory, treatment area, cat condo and dog kennel. They will have an opportunity to interact with some of the animals.
