Heartworm Disease is No Longer a Distant Threat

Rawkus is a sweet, adorable 10 year old pit bull who has lived here in the valley all his life. This spring during his annual examination, we were surprised to learn that he was infected with heartworms.  Thanks to his toughness, a dedicated family, and the UVH team, he has survived this deadly disease.  The treatment for heartworm disease involves three stages and along the way there is the potential for life threatening consequences as the worms die in the heart and lungs.   Fortunately heartworm disease is easily preventable with a safe monthly medication.

To make this easier for our patients and their pet parents, we are offering house call visits two days a week!
